I think, at some point, we have all have found ourselves feeling nostalgic looking at old pictures. Either the memories that our phone presents to us or printed photos at some relative house or in an old book.
In the last couple of years I have started taking pictures with a film camera, and it’s probably the limited number of exposures and the unknown of the result that makes it so intriguing and special to me.
I do, also, absolutely love going through the prints.
Every time I look at the photos I find myself remembering slightly different details of people, places and events, always with a big smile, romanticising over the events.
While reflecting on how memory can distort our perception of events and objects and the possibility that the image itself may undergo a modification subsequent to its initial conception, I decided to create a mini, one of kind collection of jewellery with the use of transparent stones.
Just as memories can sometimes distort and reinterpret experiences, these transparent stones are used as lens for memory whose natural inclusion and colour nuances transform the image underneath.
